September 25: C215 "Paid Parental Leave" Second Comment Period

A proposed revision of Policy C215 “Parental Leave” developed by the Faculty Senate Policy Committee (FSPC) was sent to the campus for a review and comment period ending April 22, 2024. The FSPC reviewed 17 comments received and developed additional changes to address the comments. Due to the significance of these changes, a revised draft is being sent out for a second comment period. The additional changes are highlighted in green in the attached draft and are described below:

•Corrected Applicability Section to change tenured to eligible faculty since this leave benefit is not limited to tenured faculty.

•Clarified which faculty titles qualify for parental leave. The Policy lists the categories of titles and refers the reader to the Office for Academic Personnel website for specific individual titles.

•Changed the level at which procedures and guidelines are developed from departmental to college/school.

•Indicated that additional accommodations beyond Parental Leave are limited to existing alternatives such as Leave without Pay.
