LoboAlerts Central & South Campus Siren Test
LOBOALERTS TEST 6.9.2026 - 10:45 a.m.: The University of New Mexico is planning an exercise of its Campus Warning System, including the central and south campus sirens, today, June 9, at 11 a.m. This is only a test. Additionally, UNM is testing a new telephone system, which may delay the sirens slightly as a result. For more information, visit news.unm.edu. At 11 a.m., the central and south campus sirens will sound for approximately one minute. The sirens will then be paused for one minute, followed by an "all clear" siren for approximately the same duration. The next full system exercise will be during the 2026 fall semester.

Revision notes

The Academic Freedom and Tenure Committee (AF&T) propsed the interim policy to create the faculty title Practitioner-Educator, which would not be tenured but would be eligible for the ranks of instructor, assistant professor, associate professor, or professor.

The interim policy was developed to address a concern raised by the Health Sciences Center pertaining to accreditation, recruitment, and retention issues for faculty in healthcare professions, such as physician assistants, who hold terminal degrees in their field of study. Currently these faculty are only eligible for lecturer ranks. AF&T will develop detailed policies related to faculty reviews, appointments, and benefits. The Practitioner-Educator title is modeled after the UNM Clinician-Educator title, which is not a tenured position but is offered at the ranks of instructor, assistant professor, associate professor, or professor. The major difference between these two titles relates to the types of degrees required.
